Lock 2 is located at the southern end of Shubie Park, where the artificial channel cut through Port Wallace meets Lake Micmac.
Lock 2 is unique because, more than any other lock, it showcases the distinct building styles from the first and second construction periods of the Shubenacadie Canal. Its eastern wall is built from granite in the British style, like Lock 1 and the other locks built during the first period (1826–1831). Meanwhile, its western wall has a wooden surface similar to Lock 3, which was favoured during the second period (1854–1861). This sort of blended construction is rarely seen anywhere in the world.
